Who is Tammy?
The first time I met Tammy I was looking for a place to live, and my friend, who is a realtor, assured me they would be great to rent from. I saw her entire house that day, but barely spoke to her. I was traumatized at the thought of moving. I just remember she and Bill (her husband) were nice to me. Also, they had bags by the door in case of some ‘end of the world’ emergency they could get out fast. I was so taken by that because my gas tank is usually on E, and I am prepared for the rest of the day, maybe.
I didn’t rent her house, but we did end up being friends on Facebook.
In case of emergency, break seal
I would see her around town (our town is small), and she would duck her head because she is an introvert, but friendly. I would talk to her anyway; I think I even hugged her once. Probably scared her to death.
I started messaging her for the the occasional technical emergency. I realized then how genuinely kind she is. Brilliant and creative, and crazy busy all of the time, but she never made me feel stupid or like a bother. It meant so much to me that she would help. We started to chat occasionally online while we were working.
The Invisible Thread begins to draw us together
Late one evening, she asked me to call her and asked me to help with a huge project. Me? She wants me to help? I was so flattered and really excited. What in the world made her think I could be of any value? I had no idea, but I agreed. So off we went, 12 hours later. We talked nonstop the whole drive to Nashville, over dinner and during the ride home.
What are the chances that a tough girl in a baseball cap from Jersey and a high heel wearing Tennessee girl with big hair would have anything to talk about?
Very different, but a lot the same
I came to understand during the course of the day that Tammy is the real deal, and I love real. I don’t care what package real comes in. She is so tough on the outside and, quite frankly, tough on the inside; but she is also one of the kindest, most generous people I know; not too mention one of the smartest and most creative. She gives me courage and inspires me (sometimes drags me) out of my comfort zone and encourages me to do new things. What a gift!
The best thing about Tammy is, quite simply, that she’s my friend, and I’m honored she trusts me to be hers. I have so much fun when I’m with her, and in THE MIDDLE of a stressful life, having people around that you truly enjoy is a treasure.
You are going to enjoy getting know her better!
